For me the light and the seasons transform nature and the landscape.I live in New York City and I do not see vistas of nature. My landscapes and still lives are more like intimate glimpses of natures' peace and serenity in an other wise very busy world.

Biography

I was brought up in Astoria, New York, in New York City. I have always been interested in light, and the dramatic changing of the seasons in the east. In New York City one only gets a glimpse or small segments of nature. My work is about light, the changing seasons. I work serially because I get different points of view, different colors and light patterns depending on the time of day and the season.

I went to the High School of Music and Art as an art student. then I attended Queens College and majored in art. There I studied with Louis Finkelstein, Charles Cajori, and John Ferren. During the summers I went to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine and the Aspen School of Contemporary Art in Colorado. At Skowhegan I studied with Walter Murch, and Elmer Bischoff. I painted landscapes in both schools all summer.

I graduated College and taught art at the High School of Music and Art and attended the New York Studio School in the evening. for three years. I studied with Esteban Vicente, Mercedes Matter and Milton Resnick. I got my Masters Degree at Hunter College.

I got my own studio and continued to paint and draw. Then I received a studio grant for a year at PS1/MOMA, in Long Island City. After the year was up fellow artists and I started the first studio co-op in Long Island City. It was on the top floor of a furniture factory.

Since then, I have been in many shows both group and one person in museums and in galleries in and around New York. I have also taught art privately
